TMSA

TMSA, or Tanker Management Safety Assessment, is a comprehensive and result-oriented program to ensure the quality performance of the world's tanker fleet. Backed by the world's oil companies (through OCIMF, the oil companies' international marine forum), TMSA forces tanker managers to engage in constant quality improvement and report their efforts.

As a tanker manager committed to quality performance and marine asset management, ITM supports TMSA whole-heartedly. Audits of ITM's performance towards TMSA goals are undertaken regularly by OCIMF. To the extent that it is possible, ITM will share the results of these audits as well as its status on TMSA objectives with all interested parties.

TMSA requires managers to report on twelve parameters related to safe tanker management: Management, leadership and accountability; Recruitment and management of shore-based personnel; Recruitment and management of ship's personnel; Reliability and maintenance; Navigational safety; Management of change; Incident investigation and analysis; Safety management; Environmental management; Emergency preparedness and contingency planning; and Measurement analysis and improvement.
